The Kiambu County Government is in the process of reviving dairy sector starting with Limuru Processing Plant that stalled 7 years ago due to debt and poor management. The society has over 10,000 Farmers who are members.

Speaking after delivering Milk Coolers in Kiambaa, Ngecha, and in Limuru, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu said his government will direct over 30 million shillings into the plant to get it back to processing milk again. He said the county will regulate animal feeds manufacturers, saying most of the feeds in the market do not meet the quality test thus are defrauding the dairy farmer. The chairman of the farmers society Njuguna Chege said the coolers donated by the government will be of great help to preserve milk, and the intended revamping of the processing plant will bring back benefits to ordinary farmers where there is an already existing market for their products. The society is keen on increasing milk production from a capacity of 27,000 liters to 100,000 liters per day.
